This was taken from one of the Facebook God Stories: Saturday was a blessed day in the field with First Fruits in many ways, but one “God Story” stands out. I approached the door, as usual, and knocked. I called out “First Fruits Ministry” and a middle-aged lady came to the door and said “Oh dear! You are here in the nick of time as I am down to a half a loaf of bread and can’t shop for food for a week until my check comes.” We talked, and she teared up some. The situation was obvious. I called out to my partners for a family box, extra meals, milk, and eggs. I asked them to help me carry it into her kitchen. As they left the lady hugged each one of them saying “Oh God bless you all!” I offered words of comfort and then we prayed. She clung to me and as I left said “Dear man, God bless you all and thank you!” Not a dry eye between us.
This was taken from one of the Facebook God Stories: Once again, I knocked on a door to meet a resident for the first time. A young 26-year-old mother going through a nasty divorce (restraining order in place) with two small babies crawling on the floor. The one-year-old was also a Downs Syndrome child. As I explored her situation both physically and spiritually the child reached up for my attention and the other child was crawling out the door. My Runner, Jill, showed up and took over the children’s ministry with tenderness and great expertise; putting the mother at ease for me to counsel with. I suggested she find a ladies group at church to walk with her on this journey, and Jill stepped in once again and said “We have a nursery at Temple Baptist, and we can take care of the children while you are at service. We can even pick you up!” The door was opened wide, and I saw such a smile on the face of once very lonely and afraid young mother. I might add she needed the meals, milk, and eggs also. Once again, the Lord was moving. This time with Jill. She will find discipleship with Jill’s help at Temple Baptist, I do believe.
